Timothée Chalamet rocked an audience as his Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, premiered on Tuesday evening.

The biopic which premiered at Los Angeles' Dolby Theatre, explores the early days of Dylan as a musician in New York City, leading to his much loved performance at he Newport Folk Festival in 1965.

In his portrayal as Dylan, Timothée Chalamet donned the classic leather jacket, covered in badges, including one which read 'Get Born', a lyric from Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues, from his 1965 album Bringing It All Back Home.

Chalamet can also be spotted baring an uncanny resemblance to Dylan's 1960s style, with the untucked shirt and black Cuban heel, as well as the moustache.

A synopsis for this film reads: “New York, early 1960s. Against the backdrop of a vibrant music scene and tumultuous cultural upheaval, an enigmatic 19-year-old from Minnesota arrives in the West Village with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music. As he forms his most intimate relationships during his rise to fame, he grows restless with the folk movement and, refusing to be defined, makes a controversial choice that culturally reverberates worldwide.”

Dylan Hails "completely believable" Chalamet

Last week, the music legend himself Bob Dylan even expressed his seal of approval to Chalamet's portrayal of him in this forthcoming biopic.

Taking to X, Dylan wrote: "Timothee Chalamet is starring in the lead role. Timmy's a brilliant actor so I'm sure he's going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me".

The music icon also explained that the film was adapted from a book written by Elijah Wald, called Dylan Goes Electric.

He also added: "It's a fantastic retelling of events from the early '60s that led up to the fiasco at Newport. After you've seen the movie, read the book".

A Complete Unknown was also directed by James Magold, and stars Elle Fanning as love interest Sylvie Russo.

The film will be released on January 17 next year.
