The Waterford to Dublin train has been stopped after ploughing into a herd of cattle in Co Kilkenny.
Irish Rail tweeted that the train had to be halted after hitting into the cows.
Presently it is not known how many animals were injured or killed in the incident.
Bus transfers will now be in operation between Waterford and Kilkenny on the train service.
Irish Rail tweeted: "Waterford Heuston has struck a herd of cattle near Thomastown. Bus transfers will be in operation between Kilkenny and Waterford for all services until further notice."
