We’re well aware at this stage that the cold snap has truly arrived as the tea, hot chocolate and special ‘toddies’ come out in force.
Yet we don’t think any of us actually heeded Met Éireann warnings when we woke up shocked by the frost, ice and snow this morning and not much is to change for the rest of the day as both Status Yellow and Orange weather warnings remain in place.
Friday is set to remain bitterly cold, with highest temperatures of three degrees while tonight will see a sharp frost develop with icy stretches and it’s even expected to reach MINUS four tonight.

Again, Saturday will be cold, frosty but bright with sunny spells (that’s something right?), however, that’ll only last until Saturday night when we’re due some much needed heavy rain to brighten up our lives and it’s likely to bring snow with it too!
And as for Sunday – yep, you guessed it – it’ll be the exact same.
Cold with falls of sleet and snow for a time, but expected to become much drier in the afternoon with severe frost forecasted for after dark (so, circa 3.30pm then, yep?).
Stay indoors, stay warm, keep the kettle ticking over – you’ll be grand!
