According to reports, Jillian Lauren, the wife of Weezer bassist, Scott Shriner, allegedly fired shots at police officers prior to being shot earlier this week.
This happened after Mrs Shriner, became involved in a shootout, following an unrelated car chase incident.
Police had responded to calls for assistance following a hit-and-run involving three suspects, who later fled into a residential neighbourhood. It was also reported that one suspect had fled into a private residence.
Prior to apprehending a suspect, Jillian emerged from her house holding a handgun, and refused to drop it despite "numerous" calls to do so. Police also claimed that Lauren then "pointed the handgun at the officers", who then shot her in the shoulder.
Jillian was later taken into custody for a "non-life threatening gunshot wound", before being charged with attempted murder. It is understood that she was not involved in the previous hit and run. She retreated back into her home, before re-emerging and surrendering to police.
Police spokesperson, Jennifer Forkish, has revealed that Jillian Lauren had fired at officers first, prior to be shot.
"Our investigation revealed evidence such as a shell casing and video footage showing she repeatedly ignored police commands to disarm and that she fired her weapon at LAPD officers. She was subsequently booked for attempted murder of a peace officer", she said.
After being booked, Jillian Lauren was later released on a $1 million bond.
One suspect was arrested at the scene, while the other two remain on the run.
