Gardaí are appealing for information in relation to the driver of a silver Honda Civic involved in a suspected hit-and-run collision in North Dublin.
It resulted in the death of a woman in her 60’s. At around ten past nine last night, the woman is understood to have been struck by a car on the Phibsborough Road.
She was pronounced dead a short time later. The suspected car involved in the collision – a 07D Silver Honda Civic – was recovered in the wider Phibsborough Area a short time later.
It’s since been removed to a secure location where it will undergo a technical and forensic examination.
It’s understood the car had come to the attention of gardai shortly before the incident.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone with any information on the driver of the 07 D Silver Honda Civic or anyone who saw this vehicle in the area in the hours before the crash.
An incident room has been set up at Mountjoy Garda Station and a referral has been made to the garda ombudsman, GSOC.
A section of the Phibsborough road will remain closed this afternoon while examinations continue.
