A 28-year old woman, who led twenty Garda vehicles on an hour long high speed chase, has been jailed for two years.
Gemma Greene of Bunratty Road, Coolock, Dublin was charged with dangerous driving and endangering the life of a Garda on March 1st 2021.
The court was today shown Garda air unit video footage which showed Gemma Greene being pursued on the M50 by a number of Garda vehicles.
She travelled at speeds of 200 km per hour, while she also reached 160 km per hour in a 50km speed zone – endangering the lives of cyclists and pedestrians.
She also at one point drove at speed towards Garda Sergeant Darren Blackwell who was outside his vehicle – he told the court that he was a matter of steps away from being killed.
Judge Martin Nolan sentenced Gemma Greene to two years in prison for endangerment, while she was disqualified from driving for four years.
