Everyone is already saying the “C” word so it’s not at all too early to be saying the “N.Y.E” words and I think this is a a great idea for those looking to escape the conventional New Year’s night out in the city in favour of a more laid back experience on the stunning Achill Island.
Smithwick’s 10° West will take place over 31 December and 1 January and is gearing up to be a New Year’s experience like no other. Located 53°N 10°W on Achill Island, the celebration embraces the true Achill Island way of life, where few things matter more than creating memories with great friends in one of the most picturesque and remote settings in Ireland, which also promises the country’s last sunset of the year.
Over the course of the two days, there will be a range of both daytime activities and evening entertainment. Nature yoga sessions, breathtaking greenway cycles slicing between the Atlantic and the Slievemore Mountains and hikes through some of the most unexplored countryside in Ireland will be on the daytime agenda.
As evening falls, the island will serve as the backdrop for a boutique music festival, curated by Homebeat, with the main celebration in the Keel tent that will feature live performances from Daithi, Stomptown Brass, Lumo & Talos alongside acoustic and pop-up music sessions in some of Achill’s favourite ‘locals’ – complete with a chilled pint of Smithwick’s for good measure.

Tickets are priced €45.00 which includes two daytime activities, access to the Keel tent and a complimentary pint of Smithwick’s.
