Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney were left "speechless" after watching their beloved Wrexham AFC clinch promotion back to the Football League over the weekend.
The Welsh side who are co-owned by Reynolds and McElhenny, secured promotion and with it the National League title with a 3-1 win over Boreham Wood, thanks to a brace from top scorer Paul Mullin, with Elliot Lee bagging the other goal for Phil Parkinson's side.
Following the match, fans stampeded onto the pitch to celebrate with the players and co owners alike.
This victory means that Wrexham finished ahead of promotion rivals Notts County in a titanic battle for automatic promotion.
With both sides finishing on over 100 points in the league, Ryan Reynolds was quick to praise County, insisting that he will be hoping that they join his team in the Football League next season.
“This entire story, the reason we are all on edge of our seats is because Notts County are so damn good", Reynolds told BT Sport following AFC Wrexham's win at the weekend. "They deserve to go up. We are rooting for Notts County. We want to see them go up".
Elsewhere, Ryan Reynolds also admitted that he was struggling to process this achievement.
“I am not sure I can process what happened tonight. I am still a little speechless", Reynolds said.
“[People ask] ‘Why Wrexham?’. This is why Wrexham. This happening, right now, is why. Boreham Wood showed up today. They are an incredible team. They have one of the best defences in the entire league".
Co owner Rob McElhenny also added, “Well I think we can hear what it feels to the town. It’s a time of celebration and to be welcomed into their community and be welcomed to this, it is the honour of my life".
Following this, Ryan Reynolds shared a series of photos via Twitter, as he struggled to contain his joy.
Everything I own smells like champagne, beer and grass. I’m still somewhere between giggling and sobbing. This town and this sport is one of the most romantic things on earth. Thank you, @Wrexham_AFC ⚔️🏴⚔️ pic.twitter.com/cxpVRUpkLq
